Skinboats of Greenland

385,00 DKK

Only some decades back, skinboats were the most important means of transportation and hunting for the Inuit people in Greenland, and the elder generations grew up to use and handle them from childhood. Today, however, the kayak and umiak have nearly disappeared and become museum objects. The book describes the use of the kayak for hunting mainly, fit for long voyages paddling up streams and lakes, and the umiak, a hunting and transportation craft, and describes the construction, gear and fittings. The author is born in Greenland and has personal experience of the great changes in the Greenland society over the years. Leveringstid kan forekomme.
